Seascape to build the first ever catamaran
hydrofoil motor yacht of its size and type
in the Pacific Northwest
(MAPLE RIDGE, BC) Seascape Marine Industries has been awarded the contract to build the first ever catamaran hydrofoil motor yacht of its size and type in the Pacific Northwest, company President Julie James announced today. Apollonio Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of Bellingham, WA design the high-speed 67' motor yacht. The Seascape yard is located about a 90-minute drive away on the Fraser River in Maple Ridge, a suburb of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The 67', a fibreglass composite jet boat with twin 1500 hp engines, will have a maximum speed of 45 knots at near empty displacement, with a cruising speed of 35 knots. The hulls and decks are designed to American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) high-speed craft guide, with 1" Core-Cell A550 or 600 hull bottom and 1" Core-Cell A500 sides. Two stainless steel hydrofoils with vertical struts at center will be installed between inner chines.
"Seascape's success in securing this project demonstrates our ability to work with designers and owners to develop advanced yachts that stay within their budget requirements," says James. "This ability flows directly from our team members' long experience in boat design and building."
Sesacape's strengths are its high quality work – especially its outstanding finishing and excellent fibreglass work -- and professional approach, says Apollonio.
"I have worked with many of Seascape's staff when they were with other yards, so I have great confidence in the yard – they really know what they're doing and they have catamaran experience," he says. "Seascape took the time and effort to make the owner's budget work in a very businesslike way. I admire that. They also take a very proactive, positive approach to dealing with issues, and that is a fairly rare quality in this business."
The Eurostyle interior will have satin finished cherry panelling and cabinetry with white ash accents. The open salon/dining area features entertainment center with 25" TV behind sliding cabinet doors to starboard and the galley will have teak and holly soles with Corian countertops. The pilothouse features include teak and holly sole, joystick control with auxiliary 20"wood-rimmed steering wheel with stainless steel spokes and spokes, weathertight port and starboard doors and a corner computer station aft to port.
In addition to the master and VIP staterooms, guest and crew cabins, the accommodations deck will also have a utility room with a 16 cu.ft. freezer and stacked washer and dryer.
